WORK FOR SEALING MANURE STARTS THIS WEEK

Aug 22, 2022 3:20 am

Mud sealing work begins this week on several streets in the city of Roseburg.

A press release from the city said the maintenance will extend the life of just over two miles of roads.

Vehicle owners must remove their vehicles from sections of road designated and designated for maintenance work to allow crews to complete the work.

The Public Works Department has hired contractors to place the mud seals on sections of road between Thursday and Saturday. Each section should be completed on the same day.

The released mud seals combine a thin layer of aggregate with an asphalt emulsifier applied to a paved surface to preserve and protect the underlying pavement structure and provide a new, smooth driving surface.

“No Parking” and “Road Closed” signs are posted three days before each closure. Streets in neighborhoods accessible from Parker Road south of Newton Creek Road will have limited access on Friday. Parking on Newton Creek Road is only available for up to eight hours that day while nearby roads are sealed with mud.

All roads in the work areas will be sealed in one day to minimize disruption to local residents. All service providers have been notified and given road maintenance schedules so they can bypass the maintenance schedule.

Residents who normally park their vehicles on streets designated for maintenance work must remove those vehicles before work begins to allow crews to apply the mud seals. Any vehicles found on these roads after the scheduled start date will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Work is taking place in several sections of Roseburg. The full schedule with specific streets will be posted with this story at www.541radio.com
