And we have many great garden centers in the West Midlands that are much more than just a plant nursery. If you’re looking for plants, shrubs, bedding plants, or tools, there are some great options to visit.

But you could also buy plants locally and give money back to local businesses. That’s why David Wilson Homes has compiled a list of the best independent garden centers using Google reviews – and here in the West Midlands there are three of them.

Cypress Nursery at Rowley Regis

Cypress Nursery is a small family run business set in a 3 acre oasis of old world charm in Rowley Regis, in the heart of the Black Country. The nursery has been in the family for three generations and was formerly run by Monica Bennett, who was known around the world for her geraniums. It is currently run by their son Bruce and his wife Anne.

Gilly Hancock said: “You just can’t go wrong here – they seem to have everything in stock! Bruce and Ann are so knowledgeable and helpful – the plants are excellent and hardy; they really are our nursery and highly recommended. Thanks also for the strawberries Bruce – they were delicious.”

Pat Morrell added: “Such a lovely tucked away little place that has a huge selection of beautiful plants, garden ornaments and gardenalia. And really knowledgeable, helpful people.”

Pacific Nurseries in Streetly

This independent, family-run business has been active in Streetly for more than 40 years. Not only does it offer a garden centre, but also a farm deli and a popular café. Most of the plants are homegrown and you will also find a range of gift items, oak furniture and garden furniture.

Khazina Ashfaq said: “I’m not sure why I’ve never heard of this place. I was told this place would have soil for succulents after going to four garden centers and Pacific saved my aloe!! had such a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, plus everything you need to create your garden wonderland, they also sell fruit and veg, fresh cakes and a lovely restaurant that was very busy so assuming they are good , the Christmas decorations were ready so I will be returning with my kids to enjoy and have a proper shop instead of rushing in to grab essentials.”

Mo Rice added, “Wouldn’t go anywhere else for my summer plants and other garden purchases, not only great selection but superb quality. Have been going there for years. Also, there is always someone there to offer advice when you need it. All the staff are so polite and helpful, I cannot recommend them enough.”

Hall’s Garden Center was established in 1952 and is still a family run business. It sells everything you need for your garden, from plants and flowers to sheds and greenhouses. It also has a garden room cafe and sells garden gifts and ideas.

Eliza Delilah said: “Beautiful garden center – lots of unique things you can’t find anywhere else. Friendly staff as well as a lovely little cafe next door to get a piece of cake! Will come back in the bear future. Stunning.”

Maria Sultan added: “Lovely gem of a place, great variety of plants, pots and ornaments at very reasonable prices. Went there with my mum yesterday, just happened upon Halls by chance, as did a google search. We will come back in any case.

“The gentleman who served us was extremely knowledgeable and gave my mother some excellent advice on planting a maple. Wonderful customer service which was much appreciated.”
